Well, actually it is many days put gives you an idea of some of our events and happenings here. We have a few special times, of the monthly bday party, and the Grade 12 graduation farewell party happened earlier and then they also have a blessing ceremony with their teachers. Very lovely. They all light a candle from the main stand and are blessed by teachers and fellow classmates for success in their future endeavours.
Then we have the usual kids’ play, babies and pups, and my hero, Godhambari mummy. The kids even play ‘school’. 🙂 The little ones are out of school now for a break after their exams and the high school kids we barely see as they as serious about their studies for their Board Exams going on now until the end of the month. They write an exam and then have about 5 days to study for the next one. It feels like it is going on forever. For the grade 10 and 12 classes their acedemic future is decided by the marks they make on these exams. It’s unreal to me that college entrance is based on that. No other criteria, unless you are coming in on a scholarship. Which our Ashram kids are able to do most of the time, sports and academic scholarships.Â
The photo of the older boys, I was so happy to catch them with the two in the middle who are home on holiday right now. Most of our boys have grown up and left and are working in jobs now in finance, phys.ed, or hotel management all over the place. Some close enough to home to come home regular. But hotel management usually takes them south to the 5 star hotels there. We are very proud of them and of their sisters, who are equally active in their careers and/or families. It’s just that we have so few boys because they are not abandoned as the girls are. There is a definite change in young women taking their places in society now and being seen and heard!!
